There’s no denying that our current craft beer culture sprouted from strong homebrewing roots. Homebrewing taught (and in some cases preserved) beer styles, fundamental practices and a vital drive to explore and try new things. Each Head Brewer we’ve had at Portsmouth Brewery, from Peter Egelston to current Head Brewer Matt Gallagher, began as a homebrewer. back in the late ’80’s and early ’90’s, there weren’t many breweries or brewing jobs, so homebrewing was about the only way to prepare to be brewer.

We haven’t forgotten the importance of homebrewing in 24 years and that’s why we’re excited to announce a homebrew contest to pay tribute to those roots and to tip our cap to American Craft Beer Week.  Here are the details in a convenient and shareable poster image:
