An ‘un-lagered lager’, this style of beer got its name from the fact that is was consumed straight off the zwickel – which translates to “sample port on the fermenter” in German. As soon as this beer is done fermenting it is ready to drink, rather than many other traditional lagers that have to cold condition for months before serving.  Our version of this beer takes the traditional Zwickel bier and over hops it towards the end of the boil with Hersbrucker to give it a nice peppery hop flavor and aromatic. It’s an easy drinking lager beer.
