Just like John F. Kennedy said in his 1961 Inaugural Address: “Ask not what your beer can do for you, ask what your beer can do for your country!” Oh, wait, that’s not the quote? Oh well; you get the idea. Here at The Portsmouth Brewery we value our local customers who support us and believe in the craftsmanship of our brewing just as much as we do. By the same token, we also recognize that there are members of our community who need our support as well. This is why we created our Community Pint Day.

Here’s how it works: when someone orders a pint on a Tuesday at The Portsmouth Brewery, he receives two things. First, of course, is whatever tasty selection of beer that he ordered. Second, is a wooden token that is worth 25 cents. This token can be placed in the bright yellow charity boxes at either the front entrance to the brewery, or in the LaPanza Lounge downstairs.

These boxes have four separate compartments dedicated to four different charities, which are changed out every quarter. Although each charity is usually locally based, our current featured charities cover a much larger geographic area. Due to the devastation from the recent hurricanes, the charities that we have chosen are Americares Puerto Rico, the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, the Gulf Coast Community Foundation, and UNITED Puerto Rico.

And here’s the best part about Community Pint Day: it’s a win-win-win situation. You win because you get a little more mileage out of your Tuesday beer, we win because we are able to give back to our local community, and the charities win because they receive the donations. All you have to do is choose a box for your token. We take care of the rest.

If you have a suggestion for a charity that you would like us to choose next, feel free to message us on Facebook, write us a comment on our webpage, tag us in a Tweet, or send us an e-mail!

See you at our next Community Pint Night!
