The coldest part of a new year is the slowest time of year at 56 Market Street. The holidays are over, New Year’s resolutionists are still cutting back on beer (the horror!) and delicious restaurant food and some people just hunker down for a few months to wait out the cold.

While we miss seeing lots of visitors, the slow down gives us a chance to make repairs and improvements around the Portsmouth Brewery in preparation for the busy season that comes with the Spring thaw.

This year, The Portsmouth Brewery will be closing down our dining and drinking functions at 5pm on February 1 (Super Bowl Sunday). Right after the Pats win another Super Bowl, we’ll begin replacing the LaPanza Lounge bar top and making other upgrades and repairs behind the scenes to better serve you, dear customers. We will reopen for lunch on Wednesday, February 4 at 11:30am.

Cassia and her staff will keep the Retail Store open for bottled beer sales, Portsmouth a la Carte cards and phone calls. Feel free to stop by and just say hello; they’re really nice folks.

If we finish early or find a pot of gold, we’ll post updates on our social media channels. While we’re closed, please visit one of the other brewpubs in the Seacoast. 7th Settlement in Dover and RedHook in Portsmouth will be happy to pour you a pint or serve you a meal.

We’ll see you at 56 Market!
